Now a Chinese restaurant in everything but name. Deserted on a Sunday evening visit, a bar is located centrally serving two rooms (open plan) - a main dining area, all tables and chairs laid out, and a 'front room' with boxes and personal belongings stacked up on the tables. Floor heaters were dotted around to keep the place warm (the lady that served me and her two small children out back all had thick coats on). No real ale - bottled BrewDog Dead Pony Club and Jack Hammer came in at a fiver for the two - not bad considering my Jack Hammer was 7.2%! You can get a drink here as well as Chinese meal, but one wonders for how much longer you'll be able to do either.

This pub is fantastic We took our family to Whipsnade Zoo and were so disappointed with the whole day, that we stopped at the Packhorse before hitting the motorway home to eat. We were greeted by the landlady Janet and her partner Martin. Our children were treated as young adults and able to pick their own meals to what they wanted on the plate and this was great. being able to do this meant that not only they had eaten all on plate but was rewarded to the biggest dish of icecream and sauce they coukd eat. Our sunday lunch was also the best we have ever found. We can only say WE WILL BE GOING BACK AGAIN. Also overhearing other customers comments while in there they will be doing exactly the same.

They've really turned this place around! Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The interior has been improved and they are still working on the grounds outside.

I will definitely be back!
