The White Schooner is a large open plan L-shaped pub that shows Sky Sports on three plasma screens and during my visit on Monday a couple of weeks ago Sky Sports news was being aired whilst the loud commentary merged with the depressing music from the jukebox. I was lucky to get a beer as I walked in at 20:50 and this pubs opening hours are Monday, 14:00 until 21:00; Tuesday to Thursday, 14:00 until 23:00; Friday, 14:00 until midnight; Saturday, midday until midnight and Sunday, midday until 21:00. There are two pool tables at the rear of the pub and to the right there is a dartboard on a raised area. The bar is stocked with standard draught products and I had a reasonable Guinness from the friendly barman who I think was looking forward to leaving the empty pub. To be fair he did stay open ten minutes longer than he had to so that I could watch the end of the Exeter v Brentford game, so good on him! Accommodation is available and there is a large car park at the rear which I think is for the pubs use. There is a small covered area at the rear for smokers, but I didn’t spot any outside seating. The toilets were a bit of a disgrace as there was no soap or hand drying facility.

This is not a pub I would actively seek out for a pint, but if it was the only option in the area to catch the Bees playing I would pop back in if passing – these are not a set of circumstances that are likely to arise again.
