Old fashioned small hotel in centre of town, with wood panelled bar. Friendly enough but probably only notable for being part of a dying breed. Stray round the back streets and you can find the old pub part, long since disused.

Apparently built during the reign of Charles I, and having gone by the moniker of the Black Lyon in the days of yore, the Crown Inn is now a small L shaped pub with accommodation in the heart of Lewes. The bar has a range of standard draught products and the two hand pumps were both drawing Harveys Best during my visit last Thursday evening. Pub grub is served daily between 11:30 and 14:45 and the mains seemed to be very reasonably priced at around the £5 mark. There is a plasma screen that was off during my visit and I spotted no signs of Sky Sports, but there was some music playing quietly in the background.
This pub is rather forgettable apart from the fact that the guy behind the bar and a couple of locals were extremely friendly and enjoyed giving me a bit of information about the pubs and area of Lewes.

Just Harveys Best on one (of two) handpumps on Sat but good condition, and a comfortable wood panelled lounge area to sit down & drink it.
