The Red Lion is a local’s pub that is tucked away down a backstreet just of the main Kingsway and a stone’s throw from the seafront. There is a standard draught selection alongside Hoegarden and I seem to recall that some cask ale was available, but I didn’t note it. There is a pool table and poker is played here every Thursday evening. The weekly music and general knowledge quiz is held on Tuesdays from 20:30. Sky Sports is shown and the food stretches to bar snacks. Roasts are available on Sundays from midday until 17:30 and are priced around the £10 mark. The opening hours are a bit slack as the doors remain closed until 15:00 Monday to Thursday, but they open at a much more reasonable midday on the other days. There is also an hours extension until midnight every Friday and Saturday.

This is a decent local and I found the staff and regulars to be very friendly. I would have no problem returning here for some more beer.
