Title: The Bristol Pub Crawl
Creator: Clive Thompson
Description:
This crawl took place on 28th September 2009. I was staying in Bath with a couple of mates and another PG member suggested meeting up for a beer in Bristol. It soon became apparent that this wasn't going to be just a quick beer, a full blown crawl around some of Bristol's top real ale pubs was on the cards.
The Bank Tavern (1) | |
---|---|
![]() | First pub of the crawl and an excellent choice. Friendly pub with some excellent beers including the Moor Merlin’s Magic. |
|
The White Lion (2) | |
![]() | Small pub with a precarious descent to the Gents toilets. Beer of choice was Wickwar’s Bankers Draft |
|
Commercial Rooms (JD Wetherspoon) (3) | |
![]() | Not one of the best Wetherspoons I’ve been in and the Robinsons Tit for Tat wasn’t up to much either. |
|
Seven Stars Public House (4) | |
![]() | A little off the beaten track so we were lucky to have a local guide with us. A proper pub with a good range of beers in excellent condition, notably the Rudgate Northern Fen. |
|
The Cornubia (5) | |
![]() | Historic and attractive looking pub, inside it seems a bit disorganised but that gives it a lived in feel. Beer was Hidden Brewery Old Sarum. |
|
Kings Head (6) | |
![]() | On the National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors, there’s a snug bar at the back with one long corridor alongside the bar. Very decorative throughout with glass panelling and old advertising |
|
Bridge Inn (7) | |
![]() | Another small pub, in which this part of the country seems to excel. There was a decent selection of beers and I had a good pint of the 5.5% Cheddar Goats Leap. |
|
Knights Templar (JD Wetherspoon) (8) | |
![]() | Last pub on our crawl and I finished off with the 6% Cwmni Bragdy Bleddyn 1075, which presumably I ordered by pointing. I certainly wouldn't have attempted to say it, not without the use of a safety net anyway. |
