The Barrel Store, Birmingham

Attic Brew Co taphouse located right under a wide railway bridge rather than in the usual viaduct side arches, although the look and feel once inside is much the same. Apart from the eponymous wooden casks ageing some special small-batch brews to your left as you enter, the remaining furniture and minimalist décor is much as you would expect. Limited pizza-based menu available. With two hooped founts of eight taps each, I found a wide selection of their own beers and a couple of collaborations - including the Life Raft session Pale with McColl's (£5.50) - plus four ciders being poured.

Latest arrival on the Birmingham drinking scene. This is under a railway arch - which probably explains why I didnt take an external photo - and is used as a space for Attic's barrel aging. A long rack, four high, with wooden casks doing their thing over time. Of course, with the space, they have introduced a bar at the end - with Bench Seating. The range of their beers (and others) was impressive but a soulless atmosphere (few other punters not helping) and with not much else to look at, apart from barrels. Their Tap Room at Bournville was far more impressive. Would no doubt me better when with more punters.
