Ceddesfield Hall, Stockton-On-Tees

Set back slightly from the road and with the village green opposite, Ceddesfield Hall is home to the local community association. The bar can be found off to the right-hand side of the entrance and this side of things appears to be run by a friendly husband and wife team. He was keen to point out that visitors are welcome to come in for a pint and seemed rightly proud of having a varying real ale on handpull. For my visit, this was Robinson's Wizard. The room holding the bar is fairly tiny, but with a high ceiling. With only one other customer sat at the bar, it had the feel of a micropub with everybody encouraged to get involved in the conversation. Inevitably, the conversation turned to what I was doing in Sedgefield, which as ever started a lengthy discussion about the pubs (and clubs) across the UK. Elsewhere in the building, the local choir were practicing, which gave my visit a slightly surreal backdrop. I would definitely include Ceddesfield Hall again on any future visit to Sedgefield hostelries.
