The One O'Clock Gun, Albert Dock, Liverpool

One of a number of bars in the Albert Dock, this one was a new pub for me on Sunday. It's located in tourist central and promotes itself as an "Ale House" with craft ales and local beers. In reality, the only local beer on draught was Carnival One O'Clock Pale. Other draught options were Guinness, Cruzcampo, Beavertown Neck Oil & Inch's cider. Although there were some other local beers in bottles and cans in the fridges. Outdoor seating overlooks the docks. Although the constant stampede of tourists passing by wouldn't make for a particularly relaxing drink. Inside, they have made a fair effort to create a traditional pub feel. I chose to sit in the snug area at the front left corner. This place also feels a little brighter than other Albert Dock establishments such as Smuggler's Cove or the Turncoat, making good use of the natural light it has available. Whilst I'm glad I've been here, I'll leave this place to the tourists in future. For one I'd need to take out a mortgage to drink here regularly. £3.50 for a half with a further option to add a tip on top meant that I savoured every mouthful before departing!
