Cured, Nottingham

Honeypot place by the train station. Long narrow room with distressed stylings even though they could have just plastered the walls. Lower servery has drawers of the opening variety. No cask so half a Guinness for a mildly astonishing £3.50 a half meant that I’ll find somewhere else to sink one between trains in future and leave this to the middle class students with more of daddy’s money than mummy’s sense.

Cured is a thin bar on two floors adjacent to the canal and Carrington Street Bridge. The lower lounge downstairs was closed during a recent Wednesday evening visit so I remained in the street level bar with a handful of other customers. The bar counter runs up the left facing high stools under a beer shelf that runs along the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the water to the right. The serving counter supports premium and craft keg and one of the two hand pumps was in operation drawing Castle Rock’s Harvest Pale. I thought this was a very nice spot for a beer, even if the selection was limited. The location and friendly service would have me retuning.
