Taphouse, Hull

I had been looking forward to calling in here on our recent trip to Hull and really wanted to like it. Unfortunately I simply couldn't due to the stupidity of continuing to insist on table service despite not having enough staff. The only pub in Hull that we visited that wouldn't let you go to the bar. Only Bone Machine seem to brew here now and there's only 3 handpumps. One was off and neither of the others had a Bone Machine beer on them. Three girls wandering around taking orders and just one guy behind the bar pouring drinks. How on earth did you expect that to work? Needless to say it took ages to get the beer and it had been sat on the bar for a good 5 minutes before someone decided that they'd better deliver it. Pathetic. Anyway the bar is of course rather trendy, with some booths to the right as you enter and a massive array of keg taps on the rear wall of the bar to the left. The beer, when it eventually arrived as in decent nick. Big Smoke Solaris was my beer of choice a brewery I like. If you could go to the bar and stand around and the service was better it would have dragged it up to a good 6 or 7. Sadly you couldn't. Won't visit here again until they stop the table service.
