Steamworks, Seaford

The original Steamworks bar in Seaford offers considerably more interesting beer choices than the recently opened outlet in Glynde. I found 4 local cask ales (Three Acre, Only With Love and Long Man), with the first of these also providing a keg ale alongside the usual lagers. There's quite a few tables crammed into the small room, with warmth provided by a wood burner, so it's all very cosy and a fine place to wait for a train.

Station café and bar with an almost micro-pub size / alehouse-style look in the seating and compact counter areas (separated by a chimney pillar). The main entrance is from the station approach, but there is also a less obvious door onto Platform 2 (although there is no Platform 1 these days!). All beers - many local - served from ten taps on the bar-back, so it's not immediately obvious that three of these serve cask ales by gravity: Harvest Moon green hop amber from 360°, Dark Star American Pale Ale and Fuller's ESB. However, I went for the Goblin single-hop green beer made from Harlequin by Only with Love (£4.50).

Stripped back bare boards and brick, presumably part of the former station building. Open from the road and to the platform. Nicely laid out, chunky tables, fire place, well kept real ales and friendly service. Makes a great waiting room.
