Kings Arms, Salcombe

Good Beer Guide 2025 Entry and the local camra have got it so wrong. Shouldn't be in, simply for the prices. Let alone that they served the most bang average pint of Salcombe Shingle Bay, in a slightly dirty glass and easily the worst pint of the week purchased. It is, however, kind of fun to listen to the people come back from the bar and say things like "That's a new record - £21 for a pint and a glass of wine". My own round - The aforementioned cask and a pint of Pravha - £13. The Pravha was £6.80. The food was better - although again, expensive. Fish and chips £19.50. Ribs £22. The restaurant business seemed to be separate from the bar, where you ordered and paid directly to the waiting staff. Plenty of outside seating with fine views. Inside, typical seaside pub, with nautical things. I believe it is cask marque accredited but couldnt find the certificate. I probably should have expected tourist prices but it does leave a bitter taste in the mouth when you feel you have been ripped off.

As described by Blackthorn, this harbour side pub is the first one you come to when coming ashore. We found the outside crowded with tourists but the upstairs terrace and inside bar were very quiet and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, the limited bar menu was good quality, though prices were high due to the location. We couldn't help wondering whether prices came down in the Winter, though, once the Summer tourists were gone. Ales on were Salcombe Shingle Bay, Doombar and Landlord. I'd be happy to come back.
