The City Tap, Leeds

This place feels more like a BrewDog than anything else. It is a single square room, with outdoor seating on the pavement at the front. There is a large selection of craft beers, but no real ales and only cider in cans. I went for the North/Good Things Brewing Co Barleywine, which surprisingly lacked flavour, despite being 10%. I much prefer the original North Bar the other side of the centre.

Many, many ales on tap, but all craft and too cold for my taste. High ceilings make this a noisy place.

Very new bar with a small bao (I had to look that up too...) menu. Mostly high canteen-style tables inside but lower matching benches in the narrow sheltered area out front. Impressive array of some 24 taps on the bar-back, with ten pouring craft beers from the brewery and eight guests plus others dispensing prosecco, still wines, negroni, Aperoll Spritz, etc. I went for the Volta rhubarb / blood orange sour (£3.40, schooner), which is probably an acquired taste, but the sheer diversity of the range offered can't be faulted.

New cashless bar at the end of Sovereign Street and is as OB describes it with 24 taps behind the bar that were all on, and had there strengths and prices on the large board behind the bar. Called in around 2 pm and the place was doing a fair trade with about 35 drinkers all sat on the 6 long bench type tables in front of the bar.
