The Monton Tap, Salford

The Monton Tap is a second micropub on the same parade of shops in Monton. You can easily step out of one and be in the other in around 60 seconds. There is a single ground floor room with the bar to the rear. Toilets were up a flight of stairs. Whether there was any further seating upstairs, I'm not sure, but the previous review would suggest there is. A sign in the window stated that dogs are welcome. Once again, there is laminate flooring. Music was playing, but it was fairly quiet on a Wednesday afternoon, albeit shortly after 4pm opening. I was first in, but soon joined by a regular who had also just come from Malt Dog. The similarities to the Malt Dog continue with outdoor tables on the pavement. Beers are listed on a board to the right of the bar. Unlike Malt Dog, the Monton Tap can be found in the current Good Beer Guide. All 3 handpulls were clipped with Wilde Child Resplendent Perspective, Abbeydale Moonshine & RedWillow Feckless. Craft beers were Seven Bro7hers Juicy IPA & Hazy MCR IPA, Pomona Island Factotum, Brew York Juice Forsyth, Siren Soundwave, BlackJack Dancing Saloon & Wilde Child Brownie Hunter. There were also cans of stouts and sours being promoted, along with some wines. I thought this was marginally the better of the two Monton micropubs. It had a better beer selection and the barman/owner seemed to be slightly more knowledgeable about the beers on offer. Although, I did prefer the beer I selected in the Malt Dog. With similar opening times, it's worth trying both.

A quite typical micro shop conversion. Concentrating on local keg and some cask. I asked about anything European - there was a German Weissbier on but nothing Belgian in bottle. Smartly decorated, with local signage. Bench seating along one side. Window ledge and some traditional stools and tables. Toilets (and I think) more seating upstairs. Seven Brothers Juicy IPA was keg-tastic. In the GBG2023.

The Monton Tap is a small shop converted craft beer and ale house. The bar on the rear wall supports three hand pumps and around ten keg fonts with a range of craft lagers. A line of tables with seating run down the side walls leaving a walkway to the bar from the entrance. Beer shelves run across the front ceiling to floor windows. There is a television that was airing muted Coronation Street whilst some background music played. Out the front is some café seating. I found the service to be polite and I would visit here again.
