Granville's was the pick of the Horsforth pubs we visited. It is a bar to the north of the town centre comprising of a long, narrow room, an outdoor patio to the pub's right-hand side and a couple of picnic tables at the front. The decor is a little unusual with some old doors lining one wall, a dark blue painted ceiling and a mixture of tiling and parquet flooring. The bar is to the rear left-hand side and has a number of unclipped handpulls. There are blackboards opposite the bar listing the beer range available but it is not immediately obvious which are cask and which are keg, or even which ones are actually available. I ordered a cask beer which was coming soon. After much studying, I ascertained that the cask ale selection was Five Points Extra Pale Ale, Kirkstall Bitter, Lune Brew LB401 Stout & Wilde Child Clique Fiesta. It was Seven Bro7hers New England Pale which was coming soon. Craft beers were Seven Bro7hers Lilt Bit Fruity, Northern Monk Faith, Fruit Tower & Kriek, Kirkstall Virtuous & Theakston's Barista Stout. A large range of gins is listed on clipboards at each table whilst both canned and bottled beers can be purchased from a fridge to the side of the bar. Payment is by card only. Dogs are allowed in and they have their own menu. Board games are available to play and a quiz is held on a Sunday. Music was playing with sign of any TVs. A wifi password is also provided. The pub is quite a late opener, not opening until 3pm during the week and 2pm at weekends. However, with a quirky interior and a good selection of beers and gins, it is well worth the effort to get here.

As described by previous reviewers, there are 15 beers listed on a board opposite the bar, with numbers 1 to 10 corresponding to numbers attached to the keg fonts, and numbers 11 to 15, erm. The five hand pumps on the bar are not numbered, so I asked one of the servers if there were any cask beers available, and it transpires that there are beers on the hand pumps, it's just that there are no numbers on them. This seems like a really awkward arrangement, with the customer looking at the board on one side of what is, after all, the corridor leading past the bar to the toilets, before turning round to place an order at the bar. Perhaps it's just me; I suppose that, after a while getting used to it, customers get in the habit of sorting out their order before approaching the bar. Certainly people were coming in and walking up to the bar without even glancing at the board. Taking the beer board as a whole (see photo), there were plenty of local brews from the likes of Northern Monk, Ridgeside, Kirkstall, Vocation and Wilde Child. Prices ranged from £2.30 to £4.60 - that's per half - but with a couple of imperial stouts "coming soon", that upper figure was due to go up somewhat. This was my last pub of the day in Horsforth, at approaching 6pm, and this was quite a lively place, with well-to-do young people, and in some cases their dogs and/or children enjoying the early part of a Saturday evening. Maybe I'd have liked it better if I'd come here first, when it might have felt more relaxing. My half of Kirkstall Jaspar 4.5% was fine, though at £2.50 it was one of the more expensive cask beers I have drunk.
