Latinos, Weston Super Mare

Recently reopened under a new name and extensively refurbished since my previous visit, it now bills itself as a Wine and Cocktail Bar, so you’d be quite correct in thinking that real ale isn’t really going to be their focus. It was devoid of much in the way of atmosphere on our visit, with the handful of other punters in there all seeming to be mates of the staff. Inside it’s really quite unrecognisable from it’s previous incarnation, and they’ve clearly spent some money on doing it up. It now has something of a bling feel to it, although with Mexican influences as well, and there were plenty of sombrero’s dotted around the sofa’s in addition to the more usual cushions. There was sort of wood strip on the floor and aqua blue paint all over the ceiling, whilst the walls were mostly covered in green wallpaper with foliage printed on, it almost made you feel like you were sitting in a jungle. There was also some exposed stone and brick walling to the left, whilst the seating was mostly brown leather armchairs. A smaller area at the rear had a small DJ booth and some yellow upholstered sofa’s, along with green paintwork on the walls that were liberally adorned with floral pictures, some of which also had plastic foliage draped over them. Predictably enough there were no real ales on tap, with the sole beer offering being Neck Oil on keg. Cider’s fared no better with Inch’s Riverside being the only choice. Presumably spirits and cocktails are the focus here, and we were offered a menu when approaching the bar, although we did not peruse this.
