Set on a Welsh B road, that would be more akin to a narrow country lane in England, this is a most unusual location for a Brunning & Price pub. Set on a hillside, the car park is spread over 3 levels, with steep climbs to each successive level. The number of cars and the number of people sat outside concerned us a little, as we were worried that they would not be able to accommodate some drinkers. We needn't have worried, as this place is deceptively large. In addition to the large outdoor space, there is plenty of space over a number of different areas indoors. Toilets are upstairs and there is even a lift. We were actually offered a choice of seating, including one rather large table surrounding a well. Staff did seem to be a bit disorganised. There were plenty of them, but they took their time in taking our order. Phoenix Brunning & Price Original & Timothy Taylor Boltmaker are the mainstays. Guests were Tomos & Lilford Summerhouse, Tudor Blorenge & Purple Moose Elderflower Ale & Snowdonia Ale. Food certainly dominates here. But what I like about Brunning & Price pubs is that drinkers are still made to feel welcome. This was another unexpected find for this area and the views from the pub alone are worth the effort of seeking it out.
