Little Swift, Margate

Two entrances (off High Street and the prom) and set over two levels. It's a cafe bar operation with table service (unannounced as far as I could see and the chap behind the bar seemed mildly exasperated when I perched myself in front of it – maybe make it more obvious, yeah?). Modern decor, a bit middle class ‘yummy mums who lunch’ but fair enough. 11 keg lines with 8 beers and 3 ciders, my Gadds Black Pearl was a bit over-vented but tasty enough and 3 quid a half which felt relatively reasonable in the circumstances. The tickerati might well want to venture in to see what’s on but the disguised table service and quasi-cafe aspect put me off given the good range of other venues within 10-15 minutes.

Craft beer bar also operating as a small delicatessen on the upper level accessed from the High Street. The counter is also here, with 11 taps on the bar-back offering a wide selection of styles plus a couple of ciders. Steering clear of things like the 12.5% Pohjala Banger, I went for the Anspach & Hobday London Black porter (£6.00) - expensive, but I had a great view overlooking the harbour from my table by the front windows on the lower level.
