KEG, Bourne End

Interesting micro-pub with a welcoming landlord, and despite the name, it does also sell cask ale and is in the current Good Beer Guide. Simple modern furniture, but plenty of wood about so there are traditional elements too. Also has some patio tables out front. With a bank of ten handpumps on the bar-back, there are eight crafty offerings plus a couple of real ales from Stardust: English Bitter and Prism pale ale (£4.90).

A newish micro, just off the main high street and named KEG not as a CAMRA-bait but after the owner’s initials. A single room with whitewashed and wood plank walls, some music memorabilia and a small amount of covered outside seating. Eight lines with 6 keg and 2 cask, the latter of which were both from Fisher; not a favourite brewery of mine but I suffered for the tick - my Olicana was fair. Also went for a Tiny Rebel keykeg which was…keykeg-like. Proper cider and bottles also available. Bucks prices for the beer but seen worse in the general locale. It was pretty busy here on a wet Saturday afternoon so the locals are buying into it. A decent stop, hopefully next time I’m in there’ll be better cask options.
