The Petersgate Tap, Stockport

A micropub or bar (it's actually a decent size) with six hand pumps and some craft kegs. It's a long and spacious room with the bar counter on the left and some more seating upstairs. Ciders are available on hand pump and from polypins. I did make a note of the five beers available, but my notes are difficult to transcribe, and anyway a subsequent visit found five different beers on. I was very impressed on the second occasion by Lancaster Brewery's English Pale Ale, and wished I could have stopped for more. This pub is an easy five minutes from the station (for me on my bike) so is perfect for that awkward half hour between trains. Date of visits: 14th January and 6th May 2017

A single room micro formerly a bookies shop, it opened in late September 2016. It is in the more minimalist style of micro pub with tables and chairs down one side and the counter down the other, although a micro it has a fair sized floor area and there is an upstairs room as well. Six pulls with well kept local beers on, it also has cider boxes plus wines and spirits. It's a decent place and hopefully will survive as it's a bit off of the Market Place area.
