Split Chimp, Newcastle Central, Newcastle Upon Tyne

This is a decent size for a micropub and consists of a long room that narrows at the end and has the bar in the middle on the left. The seating in this one is mostly low tables and chairs and there was a classic rock soundtrack playing quietly. As well as the CAMRA discount they also do a pie and a pint of real ale for a fiver. The six hand pumps had two Errant Clever Chimps, Bridgehouse Holy Cow, Taylor's Landlord, Stockport Bitter Lemon and Saints Row Even Drop. I went for the Holy Cow which was excellent. Another good micropub.

A well run large micro, with good service at the bar even when busy on our Friday night visit. Five handpumps with Errant Clever Chimp repeated over two pumps. We decided to go for the Errant Clever Chimp, which was a big mistake as it was close to John Smiths keg. I might give it another chance, when the beer choice is more to my preference.
