Purecraft Bar & Kitchen is a new pub that is housed in an old building,it faces the long gone Court pub. Once inside there is a large square shaped room with the bar on the right side,the floor is bare boarded,the seating in the main area is normal tables and chairs and a few tall tables and stools and two long tables with stools fixed to them,there is a decent sized raised area running down the left side,the seating here is comfy bench seating and chairs. This is a Purity run pub so a first for Nottingham,there were six pumps on the bar with three beers doubled up,i had a drink of Purity Pure Gold which went down well,the other beers were Purity Mad Goose and Purity UBU. Food is served from a open kitchen area to the rear right,what i saw was served on boards,so it must be pretty trendy. I had no bother in getting served and sitting where i wanted to,so they may have relaxed on asking if dining or not. I quite liked this new addition to Nottinghams drinking scene. A large bank conversion on St Peters gate owned and managed by Purity brewery. Upon arrival i aproached the bar and was told to take a seat and a menu would be sent over to me. Upon stating i was only after a pint a very shocked waiter asked me again to take a seat and a beer menu would be sent over to me. Again looking at the beer pumps in front of me i explained how that was not required asi knew the beer i wanted, clearly not used to sole drinkers coming in here as this is a very foody type of place although there were a few fancier types enjoying shorts and cocktails. However to my amazment he was very forthcoming about their 10 % CAMRA discount tha can also be used on craft beer and wine, very handy. So maybe they do want the custom of beer drinkers as well, all very confusing. Anyway on the beer front they had a nice selection of ales withn the full range of purity beers on (UBU< Gold and mad goose as well as saddle black on keg) along side guests from Roosters Kellsall and Tiny Rebel. Unfortunately their pricing is frankly outrageous, especially for Nottingham which is very competitive compared to other city's, it seems like the price list has been lifted straight from their Birmingham site. Purity beers were a lot at £3.60 for the gold, £3.80 for UBU and £3.90 the mad goose while guests were even worse with Tiny Reble Cwtch A whopping £4.50!! even the 3.7% Roosters blind jack was a whopping £4! However with my discount the UBU was a more reasonable £3.42 and was in a very well kept condition although slightly sweet for my taste. The bar is a very nice place to sit with candles on the tables and waitress service if required although me and my dad sitting here in regular (not scruffy just not smart) clothes did feel slightly out of place drinking a pint of bitter in here among the smart young trendy people of Nottingham. a bit fancy for my liking but then again it is not supposed to be a pub. I would return to sample the purity beers as they were really well kept but would probably not come as part of a pub crawl, this is a nice alternative on those nights when dressed to impress and you are forced to go to a crap bar with no beer, loud music and trouble causers, at least here you can relax in peace so it does have its purpose.
