Hoot, Wigan

Enjoyed our rather quick visit to the 2019 Good Beer Guide pub yesterday and with the fine weather we were sat outside with our Windermere A bit o ruff. Cafe bar with friendly staff and a large toy owl on the bar area.

This place is not that much different to a micropub but describes itself as a cafe bar so that's what it is. It's a square room with a wooden floor and a modern look. There is an extensive patio area at the front and side. It was doing a good trade on my Wednesday afternoon visit. There were eight hand pumps which included a cider and had two unused. The five beers included Unsworth Yard Sir William Marshal's Crusader Gold, Weetwood Old Dog, Hawkshead Lakeland Gold and a beer from Prospect brewery. I went for the Weetwood Old Dog (£3.30) which was in good nick. I found this to be a pleasant enough place that's well worth a look.
