Tap & Growler, Nottingham

This is a proper micropub with no TVs or other distractions, although on my Saturday visit they were getting ready for a Halloween live music event. It's a rectangular room with a small bar counter at the rear left and one of those glass chill cabinets to cool the beer. This also contained several boxes of cider. There are a few low tables and chairs plus a couple of rows of seats that looked like they were taken from a cinema or theatre. There was a tap takeover by Totally Brewed going on so there were five of their beers on the hand pumps and two on gravity from the cabinet. I went for one called Totally Brewed Passion Fruit In The Face which was in good nick. I had no problem with the friendly landlady or the locals. The landlady told me about a future micropub venture called the Caught & Bowled in nearby Giltbrook. I thought this one was fine.

The Tap & Growler is a micro pub that is opposite the now closed Man in Space pub which was sadly converted into a Sainsburys local. Once inside there is a small oblong shaped room with the bar to the rear left,there is a concrete floor and cinema seating in an half circle to the front,there are a couple of normal tables and chairs,the beer is stored in racking behind the bar. There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Oakham Citra,which was a very nice drink,the other beeers were Lincoln Green Marrion,Whim Flower Power and one more i failed to read my noted of. The pub was fairly busy on my Saturday dinner visit and not warm enough on a cold day. Not as good as some micro pubs i have visited,but not that bad. Pub visited 3/12/2016
