Tyneside Bar, Newcastle Central, Newcastle Upon Tyne

The Tyneside Cinema Bar Cafe is very much as it suggests on the tin. It's a cafe bar for a cinema. It was fairly busy on our Saturday afternoon visit, not necessarily with cinemagoers. Whilst not a traditional bar/pub, it does serve some fairly unusual cask ales and it also has the advantage of opening early. Timothy Taylor Landlord is the regular cask ale. Guests for our visit were North Pier XPA & Three Brothers While The Cat's Away The Mice IPA. A fourth handpull was unclipped. Almasty Session IPA & Beavertown Neck Oil were on keg. Worth a visit if you're in the area when in Newcastle, but it's not a destination pub/bar.

Very much a cafe bar with loads of assorted food and many cakes being served durung our visit. It's the bar for the Tyneside Theatre, so there is quite an ebb and flow of punters. A pleasant atmosphere and lots of ladies who lunch. Surprisingly there are 4 handpumps on the bar, all badged. We each had a different beer and they were both in really good condition. As Ray says, it's a lot better than expected.
