Albion Ale House, Wigan

fairly standard micropub, feels a bit temporary even though it has been here for years and the high tables don’t help. But it’s friendly enough and a few rather smelly dogs running around made it feel a bit more homely. Four or five ales on and an okay selection including a dark beer.

With limited time in Standish and 2 Good Beer Guide bars to get to we had to have a quick one in each but enjoyed Salopian Fault Line here. Agree the high seating made it difficult for the more elderly of our group.

This long narrow micropub is well described below. Sadlly there is no low seating at all so my visit was limited to a quick pint. There was a TV behind the bar showing Countdown. The six beers included Bowland Gold, Abbeydale Deception & a Dr Morton brew and Appleby Haweswater Blonde. All the beers seemed to be bitters at around 4.0% abv or less. I went for the Haweswater Blonde (£3.00) which was in good nick. I thought this was a worthwhile place but some low seating and a more varied beer choice would suit me better.
