The Dog Beck (JD Wetherspoon), Penrith

Apparently this old listed building was last a night club but prior to that was the local clinic. The whole place seems to be an open plan room on different levels and there is a roof patio upstairs. There are twelve hand pumps on the bar which had one available soon, the two GK beers, Carlisle Bell & two festival ales doubled up and Carlisle Spun Gold. I went for the Spun Gold (£2.15) which was in good enough nick. I thought this was a reasonable Spoons but let down by the limited beer choice.

Slow service. 10 pulls - usually about 5 or 6 in action. Weekends full of screeching youngsters. Beer condition now sorted. Excellent prices.

As its a Wetherspoons you should by now know what you're getting. Standard Wethers but ok.
