Otley Tap House, Otley

Not an inspiring choice of beers, Banks’s Mild, Boltmaker, Black Sheep Bitter, Saltaire Blonde and an Ilkley Mary Jane that was on the bones of its arse. Music too loud and uncomfortable seating, quiet as the grave in terms of human beings or the lack thereof. Am I getting old and miserable or is it just not too good here?

Compact modern alehouse with an appealing interior. Patio beer garden to rear. Friendly barman. Seven handpumps, offering Black Sheep, Golden Sheep, Hobgoblin Gold, Resurrection, Ilkley Black, Saltaire Blonde and Oates OT (£3.20). Only had time for a brief visit, but I certainly enjoyed it.

The Otley Tap House is next door to the White Swan. Once inside there is a single square shaped room with the bar to the front right,the floor is of stone,the seating comfy bench type and normal tables and chairs,there was a TV on showing the Liverpool V Chelsea game. There was a good choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Saltair Blonde which went down well,the other beers i noted were Black Sheep Golden Sheep,Hobgoblin,plus one from Mallinsons and another micro beer i could not read notes of. The pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit with drinkers,i heard one of the best put downs while drinking in here,there were two women sat at the bar with a bloke,he then shouted out quite loudly "if you wore make up and a dress you would still look crap"there was no reply from the woman. I quite liked this pub. Pub visited 8/11/2014
