The Port Jackson (JD Wetherspoon), Bishop's Stortford

This is a fairly new Spoons having opened in Spring 2014. Inside it's a large modern area with an upstairs room that I didn't investigate. The decor and furnishing is a cut above the identikit Spoons from the last century. The doors at the rear overlook a river or canal but there is a sign prohibiting taking a drink out there, The bar has two banks of six hand pumps which weren't really used to full effect as Doom Bore was doubled up, two were unused then there were the two GK Beers, two ciders, Everard's Schlafly Pale Ale, Red Squirrel Jack Black IPA & Legally Blond and Brain's SA. I went for the Jack Black IPA (£2.49) which was outstanding. This was on the expensive side for a Spoons but the menu showed guests FROM £2.69 which seemed odd. The club food prices were a pound or so more expensive than normal.. The excellent Black IPA enhanced my visit considerably and I would be prepared to drop in again.
