Beer in Hand, Hereford

Called in while attending the nearby CAMRA festival, and very impressed with what they called "Beer on the Eign" their modest beer festival running the same time as Beer on the Wye at the rowing club nearby. Although it is listed as a micropub, it is very roomy inside and the biggest micro pub we have been in, but very impressive way of dispensing their beers from a racked stillage behind the long bar. We tried a couple from Errant and Track breweries which were very good. Welcome addition to Hereford.

Open since August 2013 this place is set just across the Ring Road through a subway from the city centre and Is a former launderette. It's not a typical micropub as it does limited food and also sells some keg products but not the usual nationally available rubbish. Inside it's long and narrow with wood laminate floors fairly basic furnishings and the bar counter down the end. There is the obligatory collection of pump clips on the ceiling. I had trouble reading the board with the list of cask offerings in the dark so didn't note everything but there were around six casks available and one of the keg offerings was a Magic Rock beer. I tried the Left Handed Giant USPA and the Fixed Wheel Amarillo both of which were excellent and were priced around the three quid mark which included a 10p CAMRA discount. This is a great place to come and find an interesting beer but note it doesn't open until late afternoon Monday to Wedenesday.
