The Giant Bellflower (JD Wetherspoon), Selby

This is a fairly standard High Street Spoons where the small front hides a larger interior. It stretches a long way back to end at a rear patio. The bar is on the right situated roughly in the middle with a wood floor and overhead glass windows. According to What Pub it was originally a furniture shop. The bar has ten hand pumps which had the JDW Trio Of Doom, one available soon, Elland 1872 Porter, Osset Premium Blond, Rudgate Elderflower Ale & Chocolate Stout, Hop Studio Blush and Acorn Barnsley Gold. I went for the 1872 Porter (£2.45) which was in good nick and a good price. I thought this was a pretty good JDW.

The Giant Bellflower is a Wetherspoons that has shops either side of it. Once inside there is a very long room which runs to the rear,the bar is on the mid right side,there are tall tables and chairs on the left side and normal ones elsewhere. The choice of guest beers was poor for a Spoons,i had a drink of Ossett Silver King which went down well,the other beers noted were Saltaire New World Red,Acorn Old Moor Porter and one from Wharfbank,there was also the regular Spoons beers,Ruddles best and doom Bar. The pub was very busy on my mid Saturday afternoon visit,the service was very slow. This is a decent enough Spoons which serves its purpose in the town. Pub visited 13/2/2016

Ordered a traditional breakfast, when the person serving decided to talk to me. Sat at table, which I had to ask to be cleared. This was a Sunday morning, with hardly anyone in. The coffee was weak and tasteless. The breakfast was disgusting. The egg was nearly raw, the sausage was cheap and awful and undercooked, the bacon was almost raw, the beans tasted like they'd been cooked and watered down a few times. I got the cold stare from the cook when he walked past, as I asked for the egg to be cooked. The replacement was little better. It ended up being the only thing I could eat before giving up on this very grim establishment.
