The Cats, Maldon

We used to visit this pub when we had a holiday caravan in the area, but we had not been to it for over ten years. We were travelling back from Mersea Island and thought we would see if it was still there. I am pleased to say that it is, but unfortunately was shut when we arrived in the late afternoon on a Wednesday, so we could not get inside. However, I could see through the window that the bar was in place with hand pumps on it. From memory, it does open restricted hours, and not at all on Monday, but it used to be open the rest of the week in the evening. My rating is based on memory, the building, (which is grade II listed,) and the location. Pay it a visit.
