Beefeater The Belgrave, Torquay

The Belgrave is a large Beefeater next to a Premier Inn with which it shares a big car park. There is a large picnic covered lawn out the front which is overlooked by a veranda that has nice views of Tor Bay ahead. To the right of the glass fronted entrance is a restaurant with table service and the bar area is located around to the left. There was a hotel bar feel in the bar area, but that is because it is a hotel bar and was full of holidaymakers who were having a late afternoon beer. There is a large plasma screen that was showing muted rolling news and there was no background music. One of the four hand pumps was unused and the two tribute and one Spitfire pumps were both off leaving a standard draught selection as the only choice. I found the service to be friendly and if I was staying in the hotel I would be happy to use this pub, but I wouldn’t spend an extended period drinking here if there was time to walk to a proper pub.
