The Lord Nelson, Oakham

The Lord Nelson is tucked away in the right corner of the market place,it looks like a small pub from the outside,but is a lot bigger once inside. The main bar is oblong shaped with the serving bar at the far end,the seating in this area is two very long tables either side of the room with bench seating and chairs,there is a seperate square shaped room off the main room to the rear right,this room had a tiled floor and comfy bench seating and chairs,there were two other room upstairs which were in use on our Saturday dinner visit. There were five real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Imperial bitter which was a very nice well kept beer,the other beers were Geeves Clear Cut,Castle Rock Harvest Pale,Elland 1872 Porter and London Pride. The pub was fairly busy with a good mix in,this one is well worth a visit. Pub visited 19/10/2013

So glad we called in here, what an amazing place. It's a multi roomed pub with an upstairs full of hidden gems. Five ales on and stunning food. Recommend calling early doors for a look round.
