Treehouse, Otley

A modern bar with a very attractive and impressive atrium, made by covering the back yard of a very old building. The back wall of the house can be seen, with a large window looking out, as though surprised, onto the seating below. The bar has three hand pumps (see photo) - I went for the Kirkstall Leeds Best which was in good condition. The constant pounding of music was a bit of a distraction for me, though my drinking companions said they didn't think it was too bad. If it had been a Saturday night I reckon I'd have hated being here, but as the second pub of a Thursday afternoon crawl it was fine.

An odd place with a traditional frontage but the interior is highly modern apart from a very old wall presumably the original back wall of the building. The front area extends into an L shape with the counter in the rear right corner, opposite is an arch leading to a pallet wood lined seating area with a window into the kitchen and a couple of fake trees holding up a mezzanine , “The Canopy” possibly occupying a former yard. The upper floor seems to be used as a function room and has its own counter with a T-Bar. There’s also an upstairs area at the front, “The Nest” reached by stairs at either end of the ground floor. Beer is limited to three handpumps, two in action with Black Sheep Bitter and a decent Three Swords, the usual sort of keg choice is available. A modern bar so there are a few large screens and constant music. The toilets are upstairs in a corridor linking the upper areas.
