The City Gent, Bradford

The City Gent is situated at the top end of North Parde. This is a grand looking building and once inside it is still just has grand with a very ornate ceiling which has four large pillars supporting it The room is square shaped with the bar facing,it is carpeted and has normal tables and chairs for seating. There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Bradford Hockney Pale,which went down very well,the other beer was Ossett Big Red. The pub was very busy on my late Saturday afternoon visit. A decent enough pub to have a couple of drinks in. Pub visited 2/1/2016

This pub is a converted bank and has an absolutely stunning ceiling. The rest of it isn't bad either, with dark wood all around and two ex offices either side of the bar. Standard dining tables and chairs around the outside of the room and comfy chairs and small tables in the centre. There's a jukebox which seemed a little out of place in here. I almost expected to hear piped chamber music. 4 handpumps on the bar with 2 from Timothy Taylors and 2 from Ossett. The Ossett Nervous Turkey was in good nick. A lovely looking pub, with a pedestrian range of beers. I'll definitely call in again, probably to show Ms CAMRA the place, but it would have scored higher with a better beer range.

Eat your heart out Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow, this bank conversion has the ceiling to end ceilings, sadly there is a mundane choice of beers, mainly from Osset and Taylors, on the four pulls, plus national keg brands. Converted from the Yorkshire Penny Bank the décor is extravagant high Victoriania at its best, the columns and coffered ceiling are mightily impressive. Furnished with separate tables and chairs, some upholstered some not. What isn't carved plaster is wood or marble with an expensive looking Axminster or Wilton style carpet. Two carved wooden former office structures either side of the counter house the toilets. Only the screen and some games machines look out of place amidst the opulence.
