The Juke, Birmingham

An end-terrace house coversion into a cafe/bar, which has a few benches at the front. The road and the house were built in the late Victorian period. The upper exterior is in gret, with a dog tooth cornice and a bow window, the lower frontage is simply brick and glass. The interior is a sigle room, with a cakey food counter at the front and a drinks counter at the back. The decor is mixed wallpapers and brown, with a few tables and chairs and a few sofas crammed into little space. There is a wood floor. There is no TV and the music is mixed and at a decent level. A few bits of bistro art are on the walls. The service was friendly and the place full - as about 5 people were in. Beer; a few usual taps, with bottled beers and Castle Rock Harvest Pale Ale on handpull, which was fine. Simply too small for a misery like me - but happy to have popped in.

Small cafe bar near middle of Kings Heath, with a local reputation for quality bottled beers and fine food. The food part is to the front & this leads through to a small seating area with a bar at the end. Rather arty as befits Moseley/Kings Heath. Pleasant little place and has one real ale, Backyard Blonde on my visit. They seem a little unsure on serving the draught beer, but is trying & a must if doing the 50 bus crawl from the city.
