Seamoors, Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne

One of the various bars and restaurants in the centre of Sovereign Harbour, but not quite by the quayside (although the marina can be seen from the outdoor seating area). If trying to dodge the thieving seagulls isn't your thing, the gloomy, plain interior doesn't offer much (apart from being cooler on a hot, sunny day). Slightly surprisingly, a decent pint of Long Man's Best Bitter (£4.10) was available from one of the pair of handpumps.

A scabby single room bar on the ground floor of the marina complex, open to the very worst of the general public. Cask ales are advertised on a board outside, which turned out to be Hobgoblin and GK IPA, both tainted with something other than what the pump clip advertised. Devoid of atmosphere, charm and class, this place really lowers the tone of the adjacent marina. Not worth the journey.
