The Post & Telegraph (JD Wetherspoon), Brighton

This was a far better Spoons than I expected despite being rammed on a summer Saturday early evening. Ignoring the usual GK stuff and Doom Bore there were two Arundel Beers, a Hammerpot one, Goldmark Hop Idol and another (presumably) Locale option with a hand-written clip that I was unable to read. I went for the Hop Idol and Arundel Stronghold (Both £2.40) which went down a treat with a Special Offer Flaming Dragon Curry. I would happily revisit here, especially at a quieter time.

Large corner Wetherspoon's with an upstairs area.Downstairs there is a fairly small bar that had 2 guest ales on with the Otter Bright being ok.Not much atmosphere.

The Post and Telegraph is a Wetherspoons pub on the old site of some newspaper offices (hence the name) and an old bank which the building now resembles. The bar on the back wall supports eight hand pumps alongside the usual draught suspects. I noticed three guest ales alongside the JDW stalwarts and the Tom Woods Jolly Snowman was OK. Food is served all day and the usual drink and food promotions are all in place. The main bar area is rectangular and open plan with a plasma screen showing muted rolling BBC News. There is also a balcony area upstairs that I did not visit. The crowd ranged from Students and people on their way home from work to hobos keeping warm from the harsh December weather. I didn’t find the staff to be very cheerful and I saw nothing here to lure me back in a hurry.
