The Antrobus Arms Hotel, Salisbury

Large, aged hotel. The bar is off left through the lobby and has a fairly traditional country feel. To the rear is a very nice walled garden with a central water feature. Four pumps at the bar, looks like there’s usually two on and another two minipins had been shipped in for a wedding. Pints from those were fine, less so the pump ale I tried from Stonehenge which was well past its best and got taken back and off. Real cider from Lilleys also available. If you get lucky with the beer I imagine it’d be a decent stop.

This Georgian hotel just off the high street has large rooms with a sense of county grandeur. There is a pleasant walled garden. The main bar is carpeted, has an open fire and it has a proper country hotel feel. There is usually a selection of ales on, but they do run out from time to time so it's pot luck as to whether you will get a decent pint. On my last visit there were 4 ales on, all in fantastic condition. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. Probably the best of the pubs in Amesbury and a good place to while away a lazy afternoon or throw a party.
