The Railway Inn, Derby

This is a really nice mid-Victorian undressed brick build, it consists of two buildings although the old corner entrance has now been bricked-up. The interior retains two rooms, although the smaller bar was in darkness (had a dart board). The lounge was traditional and curved around the serving bar. It had a few photos for interest. The TV was silent and there was no background music. Service was friendly as were the locals that were in. Bass was the only real ale, which was decent enough - though I was so thirsty I also had a swift half of Thatcher's Gold. I really liked this place, though it has the smallest of the Hatton real ale choices. I would return here for one, more than happily.

When i visited the Railway it was a smartish proper pub that is close to the train station and the Staffordshire border. Once inside the pub was carpeted and had normal tables and chairs. This pub used to be a Bass tied house and there was one real on the bar this was Bass and this was a very nice drink,i thought this was quite a nice pub to have a few drinks in. Pub visited 1/7/1993
