The Master Locksmith, Oakwood, Derby

Now demolished.

A closed Derby pub could be demolished and replaced with a drive-through restaurant. Fast food giant KFC has applied to demolish the Master Locksmith pub in the Meteor Centre retail park.

The Master Locksmith is a fairly modern pub that was built to serve to meteor centre. Once inside there is a large L shaped room with the bar facing,the right side is carpeted with mainly normal tables and chairs,there was some bench seating and the rear of this area was raised,this seemed to be the dining side of the pub,the smaller area to the left had a few tables and chairs and seemed a bit scruffy,this is where i had a drink. There was one pump on the bar with its clip turned round,but there were a couple of barrels on the bar and one of these had a makeshift Old Speckled Hen sign on it,i had a drink of this and it turned out to be a nice drink. This is not really my sort of pub but the people dining here seemed happy enough. Pub visited 9/3/2013
