Punch Tarmey's, Southport

Corner pub attached to a hotel and set back from the main Lord Street drag. The narrow street in front of the hotel has been blocked off to traffic and filled with tables, presumably a vestige of Covid time. This place felt more pub-like than its sister venue in Liverpool and definitely had an Irish theme. We were pleasantly surprised to find 4 real ales - Ossett White Rat, Salopian Shropshire Gold, Cameron's Road Crew & Titanic Plum Porter. Only a handful of other people in. It is perhaps more atmospheric on a weekend evening. Nevertheless, a decent start to our afternoon.

Now called Punch Tarmeys and allegedly an Irish bar. Its an open plan pub with a wall splitting it into 2 areas before you get to the bar. Bare floored and, admittedly, tastefully decored. No real ale on the bar, though its not too bad a place. Probably full of dickheads of a weekend but not too bad this midweek visit. A single visit is, however, enough.
