The Manners, Bakewell

A traditional, stone-built pub just on the periphery of the town centre, it seems to be quite sports focused with a number of TV screens around the pub showing the football, and even another in the garden so you couldn’t escape it there. As a consequence we only stayed for a quick one, but then again of course, if you’re a fan of the footy you’ll no doubt feel differently. Internally it’s a roughly of H-shape layout with the bar counter over to the right and a small snug. Décor wise it’s fairly traditional with wood strip on the floor and plain whitewashed ceilings, although the colour scheme of deep blue and mustard yellow was perhaps a little more unusual. A few random pictures were dotted around the walls, as well as promotional notices and flags for the world cup. Beers on tap were all from Robinson’s with their Dizzy Blonde, Unicorn and Trooper, the latter of which went down well. Unusually I neglected to note the ciders, although I think there may have been a Henry Weston’s pump on the bar.
