Very interesting little pub on one of Leiths main thoroughfares. It's doesn't even look like a pub from the outside, but it's reputed to be the oldest pub in Leith. You enter into a small room with a tiny snug to the left, along a short corridor there's another stone walled room which is filled with good looking seating and is also used for live bands. The snug now has one tiny table with a chess board imprinted on its surface. In the past it was reputedly used by prostitutes to entertain sailors from the local docks. The front room is flag floored with bench seating around the walls. Two handpumps on the bar both serving beers from Barneys which is brewed just up the road in Summerhall. Friendly bar staff add to the atmosphere. A must visit when in Leith along with the Malt & Hops & Teuchtars Landing.
