The Market, Chesterfield

Very busy pub, showing that if you get things right, punters will come. Great pub food - ordered off a worryingly large menu. Great quality and all fresh. This is a single shaped room with a dining area at the far end where some of the tables were reserved. It was doing a fair trade on my Saturday midday visit. The bar has nine hand pumps which had a cider, Abbot, Landlord, Kelham Island Easy Rider, Bradfield Farmers Pale & Blonde, Inveralmond Bitter and Twisted, Hop Studio Pale and Acorn Old Moor Porter. I went for the Farmers Pale (£3.90) which was in good nick but I would have regarded as expensive even back in London. Not only is it expensive here but I also found it rather food orientated. All the other places tried in Chesterfield were better than this one.

A nice looking interior, though slightly modernised. Its a pleasant pub with 9 handpumps on the bar. All handpumps were on with one being a cider. The bar is L-shaped as noted. Its a nice enough place and is worth a half hour of your time.

Good looking pub situated right on Chesterfields market place as you might expect from the name. Once inside there's an L shaped bar and a bare floorboards, alehouse style interior. Pretty busy with lunchtime diners on our visit. 8 handpumps on the bar with a good selection of ales. My pint and Ms CAMRA's half were both in good nick. Rather expensive though for us Northerners at £3.80 per pint for mine and £3.60 for the other halfs. A must visit pub for the ale selection though.
