Pub du Vin, Birmingham

In Birmingham's Professional Quarter, this appears to be a bar in a corner of the Hotel Du Vin's wine cellar. Its actually excellent, a typical room I guess for this area of the City, there is access down stairs from the hotel reception but also from the street, the corner of Church Street and Edmund Street, don't be put off thinking its closed, its just a modern double glazed entrance door. Modern inside, they have taken the cellar theme on, it feels like a downstairs bar. There is a central bar, black/grey slate slabs and sofas. There is also a 'study' to one side. There are various glassed off/display areas showing bottles of whisky, wine and cigars. I think its very well done, add in the fact they support Camra's locALE scheme, have beer festivals and whisky tastings and it ticks the right boxes. Very well kept real ale - ABC Heartlands, Purety Mad Goose, and Kinver Light Railway (well, Staffordshire's not THAT far). Very professional, but it works. Beer £3.10 a pint, which isn't actually that bad for the City, considering its connected to the hotel. Well worth a visit.
