New Inn, Buxton

Fine-looking Robinson's pub on the Market Place but sadly over-remodelled and unsympathetically refurbished inside so as to lose any real character. Mind you, the tables out front offer something of a view. I found three of the five handpumps in use, offering Unicorn (£3.85), Dizzy Blonde and Trooper.

All the other pubs around the market square were rammed - with Inn Full signs displayed outside. The only sign displayed outside this one was "Pub for Lease". Only a flying visit and I can only report on what I saw - but this seemed to be popular with some of the punters that maybe were barred from other venues. One bloke had done a fine job of getting so drunk by 6:30pm on a Saturday afternoon - even if it was the first Saturday since we were allowed back in. Still, he was causing no harm. Robinsons Unicorn was in extremely good condition - much better than I expected.
