Beese's, Bristol

This is a delightful place to spend an hour or two. Real ale is in barrels behind the bar and it serves the usual tap stuff. Apparently, the real ales change regularly. The one I had was delicious and well-kept, but unfortunately, I did not note its name. It has a small, cafe type layout with teas and cakes also served at the bar. It has a beautiful riverside setting with benches, tables and chairs outside on the riverbank. As Mr Yates says below, you can get here by boat. To get here by car, you have to drive down a narrow track and park in a small, rough car park above Beeses and climb down some steep steps to get to place. It is set in old farmland that is now a nature reserve, and the car park is for this, more than for Beeses. It is well worth the effort on a hot, lazy day.

Excellent place to visit, especially if you get there by boat on the River Avon!
