One Eyed Dog, Southsea

Previously a sea-food restaurant, this studenty-feel bar dominates a busy cross-roads on the main road into Southsea from the East. The pub was named after the first landlord's dog which, surprisingly, only had one eye. The bar is cavernous (in a good way), has wooden floors and large windows and is furnished in a very modern, Spartan style. Staff are friendly and helpful, but they were unable to make the WIFI work. There is a loyalty card scheme to encourage the hard-of-thinking to buy awful cocktails, but you do get a nice plastic card in exchange for your personal information. The air, as you enter, smells of urine. There were 2 ales on: I had a pint of Hobgoblin which was suboptimal. The pub is a bit of a mirror image of The Honest Politician, just along the road, but the two businesses are not connected. The background music was truly dire, but the grungey yoofs seemed to like it. It's fine to pop in if you really need a beer, but there are better pubs nearby.
